How to Get a Good Night's Sleep

As a night owl who likes to get a jump on my day, getting a good night’s sleep is critical. There are so many products out there designed to help with a good night’s sleep - from falling asleep faster to staying asleep, it can be a little overwhelming.  Here are some of my best tips and favorite products - maybe they’ll help you too!

My nighttime routine for better sleep

After spending way too much time trying to get my kids to bed, I finally take some time for myself. I like to have some wine and watch a show like Grey’s Anatomy. That usually means I don’t leave a ton of time left for a robust nighttime routine

I do always wash my face, remove any eye makeup, use a facial spray, serum, and sometimes if I’m feeling up to it, I dab some eye moisturizer on. I like to settle into bed and read for a bit - it helps me get sleepy.

While I really enjoy having some time to myself at night, I tend to get really anxious and stressed if I don’t get 7 hours of sleep. I use my Fitbit to try to track my sleep to make sure I am (mostly) getting enough.

My favorite products for falling and staying asleep

1. Lavender oil diffuser

The scent of lavender can bring a sense of calm and help you fall asleep. Consider adding APOTHEKE’s Hinoki Lavender diffuser to your bedroom.

 2. Manta sleep mask

This sleep mask, while not the most aesthetically pleasing, does block out all the light. It will be great to use when we start traveling again and I want to get some shut-eye on the airplane. It’s a favorite of DJ Steve Aoki too!

3. Melatonin supplements

I use these if I have a big presentation or meeting that I am worried about. There are many brands of melatonin that are easily available. The ones from HUM Nutrition also contain B6 to help with your circadian rhythms.

4. Deep Sleep With AJ (audio meditation)

I used to really struggle with sleep. After doing this mediation for 20 days straight all I had to do was hear the first few minutes and would drift into a heavy sleep. I highly recommend trying it as it’s surprisingly effective.

5. House of Wise Sleep Drops

These CBD Drops also contain melatonin so you get more bang for your buck. Founder, Amanda Goetz loves to use these at the end of a long day and before a bath. She recommends avoiding electronic devices after your bath so you can head right to bed.

Depending on your challenges with falling and staying asleep you can try as many (or as few) of these products as you like. At Printfresh we make great sleepwear to help you sleep comfortably. I also love to keep one of our guided journals by my bed. For great sleep, our Gratitude, Nighttime Reflections, or Dream Journal are perfect ways to end the day.
