At Printfresh, we do our best to choose packaging that is friendly for the environment.
Recycled Mailers
Most packages we ship go into domestically-manufactured mailers sourced with Econoclose, "The world's most sustainable poly mailer." These bags are made with 100% recycled content, 50% post-consumer content, with a reusable tear strip. They are recyclable in thin film bins.
Plastic bags/wraps typically do not get recycled in curbside bins, and must be returned to participating drop-off locations for recycling. You can find your nearest location by entering your zipcode here, or you can ship them directly to EcoEnclose for recycling. Learn more about Econoclose's Take Back Program.
Compostable Polybags (made from cornstarch)
In order to keep our sleepwear and accessories neat and clean, pieces are individually packaged in translucent, biodegradable bags by our manufacturing partners. In 2021 we switched to Compostable Plastics, made out of the renewable raw material of PLA/Corn Starch Resin.
These bags are 100% biodegradable and compostable, made from renewable resources instead of petrochemicals from fossil fuels, and manufactured through a process that uses less energy and creates fewer greenhouse gas emissions than standard plastics. Our bags are also printed using nontoxic and environmentally friendly natural inks.
Our bags will break down within 2-3 months in an industrial composting facility, 1 year with a home composting setup, and will turn to powder after 15 months on the shelf. You can find more information about composting services in your area here.
