Gamcha began in a small village in Nepal, where Ane Hansen and her father became fascinated by the traditional handicrafts created by local artisans. After their family’s ecological guesthouse was affected by the big earthquake, they were inspired to share the beautiful work of Nepalese crafters with Europe while supporting the artisans behind it.
In collaboration with Shanti and Nirjala, two women who started a felt production in 2004, Gamcha began designing products suited to the European market. Today, more than 125 women are involved in making Gamcha designs with fair treatment and payment. The brand continues its vision of helping more Nepalese women gain fair-paying work and greater independence, making a difference for women in Nepal. Explore more from our Printfresh Holiday Shop.
