Debuting: The Printfresh + Pencil & Paper Valentine's Day Collection
Printfresh + Pencil & Paper is back for their 4th collaboration to date, this time with a Valentine’s Day capsule crafted with love. Sharing a mutual admiration for hearts, Gen Sohr of Pencil & Paper and Amy Voloshin of Printfresh dreamt up romantic designs that are both playful and feminine. Go behind the scenes of the collection with Gen and Amy as they chat about what makes this capsule so heartfelt.
Q: This is our first Valentine’s collab together! What prompted this holiday-focused collection?
Amy: Gen and I both love hearts, and we thought this would be such a fun collection to focus on a feminine motif and colors! We also share such a similar admiration for design and pattern in general. It’s great partnering with her since she always has a beautiful point of view, and suggests new design ideas that we hadn’t thought of. I also love bringing our approach to size inclusion to this aesthetic too - there are so few brands that offer these styles, fun patterns, and organic fabrics in a broad range of sizes. This collection also features some styles in petites and talls too!
Gen: I always love to celebrate our shared enthusiasm for happy patterns and whimsical colors with our friends at Printfresh! Nothing better than seeing the “magic” come to life, plus the Pencil & Paper brand adores the attention to detail, beautiful construction quality, and inclusive sizing.
Q: There is a clear theme of hearts and colors, what inspired these?
Amy: Gen had a ceramic pot that had hearts around the rim, and we thought it was such a fun jumping off point to create an allover heart design. Heartbreaker features a heart motif tossed about in a whimsical way, of course with plenty of color on adorable new (and fan-favorite) silhouettes. Gen always loves bright red, and has converted me to liking it too! So you’ll see the fabulous Ruby color throughout.
Gen: Our mutual love for sweet heart prints, scallops, and all the pretty details definitely inspired the overall aesthetic of the collection.
Q: There’s two new nightgowns in this collection, what inspired their designs?
Amy: Gen had some really fun ideas. We have the new style named Latte Love Nightie that is so cute with the ric-rac trim and gathered neckline. We wanted to have something that could be worn on and off the shoulders, and this just looks so chic. Then the Nashville Nights Nightgown has pretty pintuck details and eyelet trim. The style is a longer length than we normally offer which I’m really excited about, as I love a midi nightgown!
Gen: We love these easy feminine silhouettes and all the sweet details inspired by vintage nightgowns that make you feel pretty but are soft and comfortable to sleep and play in!
Q: Are you personally a big fan of the holiday? How do you normally celebrate?
Gen: Yes! I’ve always been drawn to hearts and red is my absolute favorite color so of course Valentine’s Day is at the top of my list. I especially love to celebrate with sweet girlfriends and of course my LOVE, Benjamin! We love the idea of gifting these cuties to girlfriends or hosting a fun LOVE party with your girls! 😘
