Behind the Print: Deck the Halls
Decorated with care and tossed with tinsel, Deck the Halls is the best of the holidays and the best of our prints! Featuring iconic patterns adorned on the prettiest of ornaments, this style is for the true Printfresh fans who can spot familiar faces like our big cat Bagheera and Daughters of Triton. Learn how this new print came to be with Creative Director Amy Voloshin.
We wanted to include our most beloved motifs all in one festive print. The Bagheera, Daughters of Triton and Flamenco (among other) designs are all shown in pretty ornament shapes, with festive ribbons painted all around. This limited edition pattern is for those who love and have collected all of our best-selling, fan-favorite prints.
Deck the Halls: What Inspired Our Festive Pajamas
Inspiration for the print was drawn from various sources. We fashioned the ornament shape after vintage shaped styles you see in beautiful curved variations. When it came time to pick the overall print color, we knew we wanted to do something that wasn’t traditional “holiday.” Bright pink has become one of my favorite colors - and I think it’s more playful than the usual red you see so much of. The pink works so well with the fun pops of chartreuse, periwinkle, and yellow.
Designing this print definitely puts you in the holiday spirit and gets you inspired for decorating your own tree! As much as I admire people with perfectly curated trees - mine is a total mishmash of ornaments I’ve picked up over the years or received as gifts. I love seeing all the funny and unique ornaments and thinking of those who have gifted them to us. Each year Leo and the kids and I all get ornaments that represent some aspects of ourselves that year. It’s fun to go pick them out and think about how it symbolizes some special moment in time.
I picked up a lot of holiday balls last year (on sale, yay) to bring a little more cohesiveness to the tree this year because everything is so mismatched. Since we are typically between two homes (retreating to the beach on the weekends) - we got an artificial tree, which is so much easier to care for since we aren’t there to water it during the week. It’s very large so I needed some metallic soft shades of golds and beiges to pull together the look and give a little extra glitz.
Trimming a tree isn’t the only way to decorate your home during the holidays. Decorating the mantle (or even a few shelves) is one of the easiest ways to add some festive touches without too much fuss. Check out this blog post on tips for decorating your mantle this year!
