Our First Thanksgiving Pajamas | What Inspired the Festive Feast Print
We’ve had fun designing over-the-top food prints in the past, and when we were brainstorming fall ideas for this year it seemed silly that we’d never illustrated a delicious Thanksgiving spread before! My family has always had a pretty relaxed Thanksgiving where everyone pitches in and nobody gets dressed up to enjoy the finished meal. We don’t have a strict mealtime that requires waking up at the crack of dawn, and take a more laid back approach that often involves working in the kitchen while wearing pajamas or sweats. Recently, my partner and I have taken over most of the cooking responsibilities, and I’m looking forward to having a Thanksgiving-inspired outfit to wear for the prep this year!
Spot Your Favorite Thanksgiving Dishes
I tried to capture some of the classics you’d find at a great Thanksgiving meal - a wine and a cheese plate (snacking while cooking is 100% necessary for the chefs to keep their strength up), delicious sides like green beans, roasted carrots and mashed potatoes, the stars of the show aka turkey and gravy, the quintessential canned cranberry sauce, and then of course a pumpkin pie to finish things off right. I also wanted some whimsical place settings to help capture the feeling of a well-stocked Thanksgiving table. I made sure to include some scalloped placemats (spoiler alert: inspired by our own upcoming placemats), hand-painted ceramic plates and dishes, and a few quirky candlesticks. And of course, you can’t have a festive feast without fresh flower arrangements!

A Real Touchdown: Launching Together With Game Day
My family is big into football (both my dad and my brother played in highschool and college), so televised college and NFL games have always been part of our holiday traditions. My dad was from Texas, so watching the Cowboys game after eating our fill was always how we spent Thanksgiving. As an artsy girl more interested in museums than sports, I was never quite as enthusiastic as the rest of my family. But I loved being a part of things and spending time with everyone, so I learned to understand and enjoy football. To me, our Game Day print is an ode to those of us who might not be sporty enough to want to wear a jersey, but still want a cute outfit to help celebrate this fun, American sport. And as an added bonus, since none of the NFL teams have thus far decided to take on pink as their team color, this print is perfect no matter what team you’re cheering for!

Fall Traditions & Pajamas
Thanksgiving is definitely one of my favorite holidays, and it’s a big part of why I love fall so much. But apart from the holidays, I’m also a sucker for all kinds of autumn outdoor activities in crisp sweater weather, including pumpkin patches, corn mazes and apple picking (complete with apple cider donuts!). Of course, with the changing of the season, it’s the perfect time to indulge in new pjs.
