Behind the Print: Tidal Tapestry
Tidal Tapestry | What Inspired These Printed Pajamas
We have had such a great response to our High Horse print, its framed imagery and patterns have become synonymous with our brand. So we wanted to play on this overall vibe but translate it to an underwater landscape. The result is beautiful sea life and mermaids in decorative frames. I just love the bold and graphic style of some of our favorite summer motifs, it feels incredibly nautical yet fresh! We definitely pulled inspiration from our Daughters of Triton embroidery and even from our Oceania print. The bold trimming on the Robe is similar to a motif I see a lot in architecture in areas near water when traveling in the Mediterranean and thought it would add an extra special touch.
Nautical Pajamas and the Summer Shop
Tidal Tapestry feels like our most eye-catching pattern. At first I wasn’t sure how we would feel about it when we were reviewing it on paper in the design office. But, as soon as I saw our first design samples I fell in love with this pajama design. I took the Daydream Nightgown and the robe on my most recent trip to India and they were a huge hit. Overall the Summer Shop has a nautical feeling to it with so many of the prints being perfect for a beach trip or season spent exploring the shore. We definitely leaned into “creature comforts” with a lot of nods to mermaids and sea life. Whether you’re looking for something quirky like our iconic Meowing Mermaids pajamas, or a sleepwear pattern that is more classic like Beachcomber, there is truly a summer pajama print for everyone!
Fun in the Sun
My family spends a ton of time at the beach, and I can never get enough. I love long strolls, sitting in lounge chairs and staring out at the water, beach yoga (even though it’s soooo sandy), boating with friends, and birdwatching. This year I hope to spend more time paddle boarding as well as plein air painting. There’s something about being there that feels inspiring for future designs, the relaxation is amazing for creativity. I hope you’re able to enjoy some time this summer by the water, in new pajamas, of course.
