Behind the Print: Winter Wonderland
Whimsical & Unique | What Inspired our Winter Wonderland Print
Printfresh Founder Amy and I love the Hallmark channel so this whimsical design definitely started as an ode to cozying up during the holiday season and putting on one of these adorable movies. I also drew inspiration from vintage holiday cards that showcase picturesque little vignettes of snowy scenes. My Great Uncle Roger was an incredibly quirky, artistic man who lived by himself in the most amazing rent-controlled garden apartment on the Upper East Side until he was 90. Cleaning out his apartment uncovered lots of treasures, some of which were a collection of small, hand-screen printed Christmas cards friends of his designed and sent out every year. I couldn’t help but grab a few, and have them framed to pull out along with my holiday decorations each year. This print sits perfectly with those sweet little scenes!
A Cozy & Quaint Town | A Snowy & Picturesque Design
More than a specific place, the scenery in our Winter Wonderland print is more about embracing the nostalgia of the idyllic holiday settings you always hear about in the lyrics of classic Christmas songs and in old holiday films. Think sleigh bells ringing and treetops glistening, or Jack Frost nipping at your nose. Those little cabins and snowy hilltops might not accurately reflect where I spent my childhood holidays, but it still somehow evokes such a sense of Christmas and home.
Something New for Printfresh
We usually focus on lush plants when designing scenic prints, so depicting a quiet snowy village complete with unique buildings was definitely something new to try! Creating for the colder months when the plants and animals go into hibernation, it was only natural that I turn my attention to the little homes that stick around year-round and look even cuter covered in snow. In addition to the snowy cottages, I also wanted to add an animated, quirky element. We haven’t done any snowmen before, and including some different iterations with hats, scarves, and smiles seemed like the perfect addition.

A lot of our prints are very feminine so when designing for the whole family it’s good to think of ideas that everyone can wear together. This print is definitely one that we hope will resonate with all ages and genders! This flannel pajama collection includes a men’s pajama set as well as our signature women’s long pj set and even a super cozy quilted sherpa robe. Winter Wonderland also comes in our kids pj set so that everyone in the family can match for the cutest holiday card!
