Bagheera transports us to the markets of Old Delhi where artisans carefully paint tiny, stylized animals onto vintage postcards, their brushes so fine it almost looks as if they're painting with air. The leopard sits quietly beside an asoka bush, waiting to pounce on the next afternoon snack that passes her way. Bagheera is as poised as she is fearsome, and the vibrant leaves and flowers at her back complement her dangerous beauty.
Our Bagheera print was inspired by antique paintings of large jungle cats and decorative flora, as well as some of the amazing vintage textiles Amy has collected over the years from all around the world. Our designer Christiane hand-painted leopard and plant motifs with a mix of gouache and watercolor on colored cardstock. The paintings are a bit more detailed than the technique of screenprinting allows, so once scanned, they were reworked, simplified and color-separated digitally.
