Bon and I have been in similar circles for a while. I always wondered who that gorgeous woman was with the infectious laugh and pretty red lipstick on at our kids' school dropoff each morning. She reached out to borrow some clothing for a photoshoot a while back and around the same time opened what I think is one of the most beautiful stores in Philadelphia (if not the East Coast!). We got to know each other a little better recently and I want to share with you her inspiring approach to self-care, beauty and wellness. - Amy Voloshin

First of all, your store looks beautiful. Tell us about your shop and how you got the idea to start it?

I'm the Co-Founder and Creative Director of Freedom Apothecary, a clean beauty and wellness space whose mission is to cultivate an inclusive, representative and accessible community of women empowering women. Our goal is to disrupt the exclusive beauty and wellness industry and cultivate a space that’s for ALL women. Our approach is holistic, meaning that we look at the person’s wellbeing as a whole and provide resources, community, treatments and products that bring out the most radiant version of ourselves. All of our products are free of toxins and produced by independent woman-founded brands that we trust and love. What my partner Morrisa started as a small skincare line has blossomed into something much bigger—a space for healing, for learning, connecting and cultivating sisterhood.

What’s your morning routine like?

My most sacred me-time, but it doesn’t start until after I’ve rushed the kids to get ready for the day and our half-jog to school. After I get home, I savor my second cup of coffee in the kitchen and head upstairs. Dry-brushing before I shower is a must to get my skin feeling extra soft. Part of my shower routine is an additional exfoliation with my favorite body scrub by H is for Love, LIN. Then, once I’m out, I slather on all of the oils and take the time for my skincare routine, which takes a good, focused 5 mins: oil cleansing, hydrating serum, the most incredible smelling toner (Sandalo by LILFOX), another nourishing and calming oil serum by Dani Kenney and my face cream. Then, makeup by Ere Perez and Manasi, a dose of AM CBD from Yugoslavia Botanics, and an herbal supplement to help fight stress and I’m ready.

What’s your favorite spot in your house?

The kitchen—I love to cook. my husband’s a chef and even when no one’s around, I'm usually leaning on the kitchen counter.

Coffee or Tea?

Coffeeeeee.

Breakfast or skip it?

Skip it. I usually don’t eat until lunch—I am an unintentional intermittent faster.

Favorite recent read?

White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard for White People to Talk About Race by Robin DiAngelo.

Favorite way to exercise?

Pilates at my favorite pilates studio, Backbone, yoga at Three Queens Yoga, and cross-training at Warhorse. I also love to cruise around on my single-speed bike.

But going through all of this reminds me to get myself back—since opening the shop, it’s been easy to get caught up in it.

Meal prep or just figure it out mid-day?

Figure it out.

Full set pajamas or mix and match your bottoms with something else?

I love a full-set, romper or slip.

What’s your favorite way to unwind after a long day?

Being an entrepreneur and mom makes this really challenging to do, but watching The Voice is a guilty pleasure when I get the chance to.

What do you do for self-care?

My morning routine is a must. I get my hair done every other week, so that’s a bit of an indulgence, and most importantly, travel—which doesn’t happen nearly as much as I want or need it to, but I am an explorer and need that space to reground and find creativity.

What’s your favorite thing about your appearance?

I love my confidence. Honestly, I think this is something society puts too much stress on and what’s ‘beautiful’ is so subjective. Confidence is sexy and I would love to see more women tapping into this being part of our ‘appearance.’

Do you have a nighttime beauty ritual?

The morning routine is also the night routine. But I also like to put oil on before bed and jade roll if I feel like my skin needs some extra love.

Slippers or barefoot?

Barefoot BUT I’m on the hunt for the perfect slipper.

Netflix / Amazon / Hulu? What are you watching and how?

Netflix and Hulu are my go-to's, but I watched Homecoming on Amazon, and if you haven’t, do it. I STILL watch Grey’s Anatomy (my longest relationship), How to Get Away with Murder, The Voice, New Amsterdam, A Million Little Things, This Is Us, Law & Order: SVU and Mindhunter.

How much do you sleep?

6-7 hours, usually interrupted by one of our two children or our dog.

What is the last thing you do before you go to bed?

Scroll Instagram—I know I know, we all have our flaws.
