How to Plan a Self Care Valentine's Day
Plan a Valentine's Day where you can spend the holiday focusing on yourself! Solo time doesn't have to feel daunting, rather an opportunity to truly treat yourself to some always needed self care. We collected our favorite ideas to enjoy the best kind of alone time, a day of R&R, compassion and coziness.
Plan a Night in for Yourself
Perhaps your perfect self love Valentine's Day is all about enjoying a night at home. We’re not talking about just any other night at home, we’re talking about the ultimate “you” night in. Whether it’s the sushi or steak from your favorite restaurant, or the gourmet meal you make on special occasions, indulge in something incredibly luxurious. Light the candles, slip on your printed pajamas (and stylish robe) and turn on your go-to movie, this day is all about you.
Take a Break from Social Media
Hear us out, putting down your phone and ending the doom scroll can be tricky, but the benefits to less screen time are endless. Taking a break from social media, especially on Valentine’s Day, will help you from comparing on a day when everyone seems to be oversharing. Alleviating the stress that comes from scrolling will allow you to truly lean into the time you deserve for yourself.
Try Not to “Should Yourself”
Knowing you’re exactly where you need to be, is one of the best feelings. Holidays like Valentine’s Day can bring up “should feelings.” Like “I should be out on a date,” “I should be out with friends,” “I should be doing something productive,” etc, etc. Let’s forget about those thoughts. You’re exactly where you need to be, doing exactly what you need to be doing.
Know it’s Okay to Say No Plans
Come Valentine’s (and Galentine’s) Day, endless requests can filter in for brunches, happy hours and everything in between. Knowing it’s okay to say no to plans and take the night (and day) for yourself is not something you need to ever feel bad about. This is a guilt-free holiday, so say no, say it louder, and say it proudly.
Practice Gratitude Journaling
It’s always a good time to introduce, or better yet, continue a gratitude journaling practice. On a day where it’s always easy to compare and contrast, taking the time to reflect and be grateful for the things and people you have in your life is so important.
Enjoy Something Creative
Partaking in a creative activity like painting, sewing, writing or just good ole’ doodling is a great way to relax and enjoy some downtime. As simple as it sounds, indulging in your artistic side is always cathartic and a gentle opportunity to show some self love.
