Montauk Travel Guide

Montauk represents the epitome of a classy summer getaway. Between the food, surf and shopping, this destination has the making of an iconic weekend you’ll plan for year after year. After a recent trip spent soaking up the sun in the Montauk and Hamptons area, I’m excited to share my recommendations!

Where to Stay:

The Surf Lodge
Trendy and also quintessential Montauk all at the same time, The Surf Lodge is an amazing beach staple. From the bike rentals and decor to the complimentary mini bar of summer beauty and wellness summer essentials, this hotel has all the works plus more. We stopped at the in-house restaurant for brunch one day and were immediately sold on the incredible food and atmosphere (celebs must love it too because there are always Hollywood A-lister sightings!).

Hero Beach Club
Located on Umbrella Beach and outfitted with pool furniture from Bali, Hero Beach Club feels like it’s out of a dream. When you see their iconic smiley face mural, you know you’re in the right place.

Crow’s Nest
Offering both standard rooms and cottages for large group stays, Crow’s Nest is a great option for those looking to vacation with a group of friends!

Marram
Marram is one of those hotels that would be incredible for a special occasion! The attention to detail, ocean views and wood-burning fire pits make for the perfect curated experience.

Where to Eat & Drink:

La Fin Kitchen & Lounge
Dinner at La Fin is amazing, the fresh seafood is so tasty and the seaside views are unbeatable!

tt’s
This ultra-hip bar is known for their tacos and tequila, the best combination if I do say so myself. Tt’s fast casual concept is accompanied with an outdoor ping pong table. Leo used to compete and I’m not too bad myself so we had lots of fun playing with one another!

Montauk Brewing Company
This brewery is perfect for afternoon sips after a hike or morning at the beach. The tasting room is low key and the beers are incredibly refreshing.

Showfish Montauk
Showfish is very fancy and ideal for a special night out. The whole fish was delicious and scenic water views make for a truly remarkable evening.

Left Hand Coffee
To say we went to Left Hand Coffee three times a day would not be an exaggeration. This place had some amazing beverages that definitely kept us caffeinated all day long!

Where to Shop:

Montauk
An old industry friend owns NIBI, a fantastic boutique in Montauk filled with the most wonderful block print dresses. Adam Mar has some of the best menswear and Tombolo features super unique terry cloth shirts with funky artwork. Mako's Vintage was also amazing, so many great pieces you can't find in your everyday shopping experience. Wyld Blue rounded out our shopping in town, I loved the concept and all the one-of-a-kind offerings.

Southampton
You really can’t go wrong with any of the shopping options in the area. Between Aerin, Hildreth’s Home Goods, Everything but Water, Frances Valentine, Intermix, and Henry Lehr, Southampton is filled with both smaller boutiques and more well-known outfitters.

Amagansett
We spent one afternoon shopping at the stores in Amagansett. A few hours well-spent consisted of browsing Tiina, Warm, Pink Chicken, Jenni Kayne, Love Adorned and Susie Kondi.

East Hampton
Take a drive to East Hampton and find even more fabulous shops. Clic, Kirna Zabête, TENET, Zimmermann, and The Monogram Shop cannot be missed!

What to do:

Montauk Point Lighthouse
One morning we hiked around Montauk Point Lighthouse and I highly recommend making it a to-do on your list. Walking along the rocky beach and the ragged coastline is incredibly beautiful and if you go up high enough you get a good view of the hoodoos.

The Beach Club at Gurney’s
With a 2,000-foot long private beach and world class amenities, The Beach Club offers the best kind of day spent lounging in the sun with a cold drink. They host a Sounds By The Sea series with artist and DJ performances every weekend, the perfect excuse to grab your girlfriends and split a lounge sofa for the day.

Hither Woods Preserve
We also did a hike at Hither Woods Preserve along the coastline. This picture-perfect excursion is an ideal mix of coastal and wooded views. Pack a picnic lunch and you have a fantastic few hours spent in the fresh air!

What to pack:

It’s all about the underwater-inspired prints for this trip. Pair our Embroidered Shells design with walks along the beach, or indulge in your seafood feast (we take our lobster with extra butter) in our summer-ready Fruits De Mer pattern. With these pjs, everything feels like a room with a water view.
