At Home With Printfresh Q&A

Your Printfresh PJs have met their match - we’ve designed sheet sets, quilts, pillows, shower curtains and wallpaper in some of our most iconic prints. Go behind the scenes with Creative Director & Printfresh Founder, Amy Voloshin and Christiane Moore, Art Director & Print Designer, for a Q&A as they share all of the inspiration for the first ever Printfresh Home Collection.

“We’ve never been one to shy away from a statement. With pajamas so full of whimsy, designing a home collection to match the same level of big print energy was a necessity. From walls so full of personality they could talk, to bedding made for a maximalists’ dreams, at home with Printfresh is a celebration of all things extraordinary.” - Amy Voloshin, Creative Director and Founder

Q: What was the reasoning behind choosing certain prints to launch versus others?
A: We have been wanting to do home products for a while now, and get a lot of requests through Instagram. Anthropologie reached out to us about doing a special home collection together, so we worked with the team there to choose products that would really showcase our bright colors and intricate patterns. We decided to focus in on a few of our fan-favorite prints, including Bagheera, Flamenco and Clementine, and then layered in some other favorites like Unicorn’s Garden and Antelope’s Forest to round out our wallpaper collection.

Q: Is there a vibe of the overall launch collection?
A: The home collection is cheerful and bright. It’s perfect for a whimsical, welcoming guest room, or for adding a pop of fun to entryways and bathrooms. Obviously we can’t help but design with the maximalist, pattern-lover in mind.

Q: Were certain important factors (like laundering) taken into consideration when making choices?
A: I like for home products to be easy to care for. We worked with a few different cotton qualities, fabrics that tend to be high quality but also easy to care for. We researched recycled poly fill options, but ultimately decided to go with a standard variety because it launders better and will hold up longer over time.

Q: Tell us more about the quality…
A: The materials, sewing, and finishing were all chosen and completed with incredible skill and care. We selected different beautiful, 100% cotton fabrics for each style: soft, lightweight voile for cozy quilts; crisp percale for cooling sheets; and a heavy, textured slub for durable shower curtains. We also added delicate touches like contrasting bindings and pipings for a little extra color pop here and there (that also coordinate back to the signature piping on our pajamas).

Q: What makes this home launch so special for Printfresh?
A: It’s been a dream of ours to design for home, and I thought it would take a long time to really figure it out before we’d be able to introduce our first collection. But by partnering with Anthropologie we were able to bring this dream to life much quicker than expected, and I can’t wait to start adding some of these items to my own home! We’re excited to keep learning and building upon our home offerings over the coming seasons, and start seeing how our community chooses to incorporate more of our patterns into their everyday lives.
